As we covered in our first blog of this Agentic AI series, Agentic AI refers to artificial intelligence systems that possess a degree of autonomy and can make decisions based on their environment and objectives. It can adapt, learn, and evolve over time, making Agentic AI incredibly powerful and versatile, capable of handling complex tasks with minimal human intervention. Studies show that Agentic AI might reduce operational costs by up to 30% in industries like finance and manufacturing, explaining why investors have already poured over $2 billion into Agentic AI start-ups since 2022 (Deloitte, 2024).
Potential applications of Agentic AI are vast and varied – From healthcare and finance to manufacturing and retail, Agentic AI drives efficiency, innovation, and growth. Below are just a few examples of how Agentic AI is being used today
⚕️Healthcare
Personalized Treatment Plans: AI-powered systems can analyze patient data to recommend tailored treatment options. For example, IBM Watson Health is using Agentic AI to analyze patient genetic data and cross-reference it with clinical trial information to provide personalized cancer treatment recommendations.
Diagnostic Accuracy: AI systems can also improve diagnostic accuracy by analyzing medical images and patient records. Consider an optometrist’s office. They could leverage Agentic AI systems to help review medical imaging during eye exams to detect early signs of critical diseases, like glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, or even aneurysm.
Administrative Processes: Agentic AI can automate administrative tasks such as authorization requests, scheduling, and billing. Some studies show that Agentic AI can cut authorization review by up to 40% and reduce claims review times by up to 30%, leading to faster patient care and lower costs for payors while also acerating reimbursement for providers and alleviating admin stress.
🪙Finance
Fraud Detection: AI systems can analyze vast amounts of data in real-time to identify suspicious activities. Unlike traditional AI systems that rely on static rules, Agentic AI can adapt to new fraud tactics by learning from real-time data, making it more effective in detecting sophisticated fraud schemes.
Automated Trading: While organizations like are already using AI, like JP Morgan’s LOXM program, to optimize trade execution, researchers at IBM predict that Agentic AI will soon revolutionize Financial Services by analyzing market data and executing trades completely autonomously and with more precision and speed.
Personalized Financial Management: If you’ve used a banking app in the last couple of years, you’ve likely already encountered AI-powered chatbots that can provide personalized financial advice to customers. Agentic AI will take this a step further, analyzing client behaviors, preferences, and financial goals to autonomously manage client portfolios in alignment with the client’s goals and risk tolerance.
🏭 Manufacturing:
Predictive Maintenance: AI can forecast equipment malfunctions before they occur, scheduling repairs during non-operational hours. Siemens uses Agentic AI’s near-real-time data processing for predictive maintenance to minimize downtime by 50%, reduce maintenance costs by 40%, and increase maintenance staff productivity by 55%. (Business Insider, 2024)
Quality Control: With the ability to analyze real-time data and inspect products with remarkable precision, Agentic AI can identify potential defects or production issues early, enhancing operational efficiency and reducing costs.
Supply Chain Optimization: Agentic AI is also driving efficiency and innovation in supply chain management by autonomously monitoring supply chain activities, identifying bottlenecks, predicting demand trends, and managing logistics like material sourcing and production schedules.
🛍️ Retail
Customer Experience: Analyzing customer behavior and preferences in real time, Agentic AI systems can provide more personalized and seamless shopping experiences, including tailored product recommendations, reduced stockouts, faster checkout processes, and real-time customer support.
Inventory Management: Agentic AI can predict demand trends and independently optimize inventory levels to reduce stockouts and enhance logistics efficiency. Amazon employs Agentic AI systems to help predict purchasing trends and dynamically adjust inventory levels to meet demand. (SupplyChains Magazine, 2025)
Marketing Campaigns: Beyond traditional AI’s ability to analyze customer data to create personalized marketing content, like emails, ads, and social posts, Agentic AI can also dynamically adjust variables based on real-time data to continuously improve A/B testing, campaign management, and journey mapping.
This is by no means an exhaustive list of all of the real-world applications possible, but the immense potential Agentic AI has to transform industries and drive significant value for organizations is already being realized. By leveraging Agentic AI, businesses can accelerate strategic initiatives and deliver better outcomes for their customers. But Agentic AI isn’t just an on/off switch. In our next blog, we’ll cover key considerations and pre-requisites that organizations need to address in order to successfully leverage Agentic AI.
