How Cyclotron’s IP investment is giving unmatched clarity and speed to M&As

Written by Nate Hart, Threat Protection & M&A Manager

Every M&A integration starts the same way. A deal closes. An executive team sets a Day 1 date. And somewhere inside the acquiring company, an IT leader inherits a problem that must be solved on a clock they didn’t set, with information they don’t yet have, against risks they can’t fully see.

That gap — between what executives need to know and what delivery teams can actually show them — is where most integrations get into trouble. Not because the work is impossible, but because the work is invisible. Status lives in spreadsheets. Identity issues surface as Monday-morning tickets. Wave planning is a deck that’s out of date by the time it’s presented. Executives ask “where are we?” and the honest answer is “let me get back to you.”

That’s the problem Cyclotron’s M&A practice set out to solve. Not with another methodology, but with Orbit, our newest intellectual property developed to provide high-level and granular visibility, mitigate identity and access disruptions, and keep the entire transformation on track with clear wave plan scheduling.

Where the IP Came From

Orbit wasn’t designed in a vacuum. It came out of real engagements, including a 25,000-user identity consolidation and content migration project, where the margin for error was small, and the executive visibility requirement was high. Like any traditional M&A engagement, our Senior Architects were spending the front end of every engagement doing the same manual work: pulling discovery data by hand, stitching status across Quest, ShareGate, and BitTitan, and Microsoft validating identity moves one ticket at a time, and rebuilding executive reporting every Friday.

But we knew there had to be a better way, and who better to build it than the architects on the ground doing the manual work every day. So, we built Orbit, the first platform built through Cyclotron’s AI Engineering initiative focused on transforming delivery expertise into a scalable IP-driven solution. By combining large language models, workflow orchestration, domain-specific intelligence, and operational telemetry, Cyclotron is created a delivery platform that captures years of enterprise transformation experience, compresses the manual labor through intelligent automations, and makes that expertise available at scale in a single command center. One that pulls real-time signal from Quest, BitTitan, ShareGate and Microsoft into a single executive view. One that knows the difference between a user who migrated and a user who migrated and is actually working. One that flags litigation hold breaks, license gaps, and conditional access problems before they become incidents. One that reduces disruption, improves visibility, strengthens security, accelerates timelines, and saves costs. Orbit keeps your transformations in continuous motion and consistently on track all while giving leadership the high-level visibility they need to make critical decisions without losing sight of what’s happening on the ground.

Why It Matters to Executives

Every enterprise transformation generates massive amounts of data, but very little intelligence. Our AI Engineering strategy is focused on changing that, starting with Orbit. Orbit transforms years of delivery experience, migration telemetry, and operational knowledge into a living system that helps organizations make better decisions in real time.

The executive team funding an M&A integration need to be able to quickly answer critical questions, like:

  • Are we going to hit the date we announced?
  • Where are we exposed if something goes wrong?
  • Is identity clean, and is our security posture intact through the transition?
  • Are we burning the budget faster than the plan said?
  • Can we prove compliancecontinuity if a regulator asks tomorrow?

Orbit answers those questions in real time, with evidence, without an analyst translating a spreadsheet. That’s the shift. It’s not about giving engineers a better tool — it’s about giving teams more visibility, more control, and a better answer to the questions that matter.

What’s Next

M&A was the proving ground for Orbit because the stakes are highest and the timelines are tightest. But the discovery, validation, and orchestration patterns aren’t M&A-specific. The same engine extends across the M365 stack, providing an enterprise transformation command center across Purview, Defender, Sentinel, Identity, and Compliance. The next module, focused on Purview, is already in development.

This is what it looks like when a services practice invests in IP. Not productized services. Not a dashboard bolted onto a deliverable. A platform that makes the practice faster, more consistent, and more visible to the people whose decisions depend on it.

We believe every major transformation program will ultimately require an operational intelligence layer, and Orbit is our first step toward that vision.

If you’re heading into an M&A integration, or in the middle of one and asking yourself why it doesn’t feel under control, let’s talk. We’ll help you take back control with Orbit so answers are faster, sharper, and based on real-time data.
